Visa regime
Reforms to the visa regime aim to attract skills and promote tourism in South Africa.
Implementing the eVisa system and expanding visa waivers
Will make it easier for international tourists to visit South Africa, without needing to apply for a visa through an embassy or consulate. A visa recognition system is also being explored, which would allow tourists to enter South Africa if they have a valid visa from a limited number of countries with strong security controls.
Reviewing the policy framework for skilled immigration
Will create a more conducive environment for attracting skills, enabling companies to invest in South Africa and supplying the skills that the economy needs. South Africa competes against other countries to attract the best skills, and must have a policy framework that encourages skilled immigration to grow the economy.
