New laws to force municipalities to clean up their water supplies
South Africa’s water quality has reached crisis level, and a new bill before Parliament seeks to strengthen the Department of Water and Sanitation’s powers.
Once the necessary updates were made, it would have to be resubmitted to the Cabinet for approval to submit to Parliament and proceed through the parliamentary processes. She indicated the process may be slowed by it being dealt with during an election year.
