This learning brief synthesises learnings and insights that emerged from the Women's Month Learning event hosted by the Presidential Youth Employment Intervention (PYEI) and the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ). The event was entitled Closing the gender gap in Youth Employment: Exploring gendered labour market outcomes amongst young people in South Africa and explored gender disparities facing young women in South Africa’s labour market. The event featured multiple panels and discussions involving key stakeholders from government, civil society, and the private sector.
The Presidential Youth Employment Intervention (PYEI) has developed a Monitoring, Evaluation, Reporting and Learning framework against which data on key indicators is collected to determine how the intervention is performing against its objectives. This data is consolidated in a publicly available dashboard to improve transparency, enable learning and support continuous improvement of interventions.
